Rebranding 101: The Story Behind JPrutzman Enterprises Becoming The JP Collective

A rebrand is more than a new logo. It is a thoughtful process that reflects where a company has been, where it is going, and how it wants to show up for clients, partners, and the community.

As JPrutzman Enterprises celebrated its 10th anniversary, we knew it was time for our brand to evolve alongside the business. What began with one vision and one mission has grown into a collective of creative professionals, strategic thinkers, communicators, and trusted partners.

That growth inspired our transition from JPrutzman Enterprises to The JP Collective.

Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the rebranding process.

Step 0: The Plan
Before any names, logos, or creative concepts are developed, every successful rebrand starts with The Plan.
The Plan serves as the roadmap for the entire rebranding process. It outlines key milestones, deliverables, responsibilities, and timelines, ensuring everyone involved understands what needs to happen and when. Typically, we begin with the desired public launch date and work backward, identifying all the steps required to get there successfully.
This stage is one of the most important parts of any rebrand. A name change impacts far more than a logo, it requires updates to websites, signage, social media profiles, printed materials, email signatures, advertising, internal communications, legal documents, and much more.
With so many moving pieces and stakeholders involved, having a detailed plan—and sticking to established deadlines—is critical to keeping the project on track and ensuring a smooth, coordinated launch.

Step 1: The Name and Logo Decision

Every strong rebrand starts with identity. For us, that meant taking a close look at who we are today and how we wanted our name and visual identity to represent that.

The transition to The JP Collective allowed us to preserve the legacy and reputation of JPrutzman Enterprises while adopting a name that better reflects who we are today. More than just a marketing agency, The JP Collective brings together a diverse team of strategists, designers, communicators, event professionals, and creative partners who work collaboratively to help organizations grow and succeed.

The word “Collective” represents the power of collaboration—our team, our clients, our trusted partners, and the many ideas, talents, and perspectives that come together to create impactful marketing, communications, events, branding, and business development strategies. It reflects our belief that the strongest results are achieved when people work together toward a common goal.

From there, we worked through logo concepts, color choices, typography, and overall brand direction to create a look that felt modern, professional, creative, and true to us.

Step 2: Team Photos and Headshots

Once the visual identity was established, we brought the new brand to life through a group photoshoot and updated headshots. Pre-planning is key. You’ll want to select a location that best represents your brand and ensure your brand colors are incorporated into the environment, wardrobe choices, or other visual elements.

Photography plays a major role in a rebrand because it helps people connect with the faces behind the business. Our updated photos gave us fresh, consistent imagery to use across our website, social media, press materials, email signatures, and marketing collateral.

Step 3: New Print Materials

A successful rebrand needs consistency across every touchpoint.

After finalizing the logo and photography, we updated our print materials to reflect the new brand. This included items like business cards, branded templates, client-facing materials, event pieces, and other collateral.

These details matter. Every printed piece is an opportunity to reinforce the new identity and create a polished experience.

Step 4: Client Communication

Before sharing the rebrand more broadly, we wanted to communicate directly with the people who have supported us throughout the years.

Rather than having our clients learn about the change through a press release or social media post, we shared the announcement with them so they would be among the first to know. This gave us the opportunity to share the story behind the transition, explain what the new name represents, and respond to any questions they might have.
This step helped us celebrate an important milestone while reinforcing a key message: although our name and visual identity have evolved, the relationships, values, and commitment to serving our clients remain exactly the same.

Step 5: Public Announcement

Once our internal and client communications were ready, it was time to introduce The JP Collective publicly.

Social media provided the perfect platform to introduce the new brand, tell the story behind the transition, and celebrate the next chapter. From announcement graphics to behind-the-scenes content, the public rollout helped create excitement and awareness around the rebrand.

Step 6: Celebrate Together

The final step in any rebrand is bringing people together to celebrate the journey and the people who made it possible.
To mark this exciting new chapter, we are planning a client appreciation event that will officially introduce The JP Collective while celebrating the relationships that have helped shape our business over the past 10 years. The event will provide an opportunity to thank our clients, partners, friends, and supporters, share the story behind the rebrand, and showcase our new identity.
More than a launch, it’s a celebration of a decade of growth, creativity, collaboration, and the collective spirit that continues to drive us forward.
