Ways to Optimize Your Old Content

Why would anyone just want to throw away your old content instead of just fixing it up a little? You spent countless hours and brain fuel working on that content. Has it become ignored or not viewed as much as you want?

Well for starters, what even is content optimization?

To keep it simple, it’s updating your old content. You want to make sure you have relevant and updated content.  The main goal of this is to keep readers engaged and looking at your content. You want to keep the readers wanting more.

Here are some ways to help you optimize your old content:

Find content worth optimizing

This means the content that is out of date and is ready to be updated. These are the posts that could use a little love. Find the posts that you think are good but could be better.

Update the things that need it

This may sound very redundant but update your old content. We are in 2019 and no one is going to want to look at posts that are old and boring.  This means finding new images, by doing this it keeps the content new and exciting. It never hurts to put in some extra time researching on relevant content to add to yours.

Make yours stand out

Easier said than done. There are millions of posts added to the Internet every single day, which includes yours. People are looking for high quality content. High quality means original, entertaining, educational, fresh, and most important relatable. You want to make sure your content is exciting enough that will drag the reader in and want to know more.

Keywords

Keywords help people find your content. Keywords can help target a certain audience as well. They also could make your content invisible if you use common ones. There are a couple questions to ask yourself when choosing your keywords. 1. How different and unique is the word? 2. Are a lot of people searching for the keyword? 3. Does it stand out?

Power words

Put these in your title to make it pop.  These words will make your content stick out. You can think of a million but here are just a few: Authentic, Certified, Endorsed, Inspire, Leadership, etc.

By optimizing and updating your content, you are saving yourself time and money. It may take countless hours to days to build new content but by updating the old stuff, it may only take half the time.
