Meet The Intern: Christian Wright

Tell us about your schooling.

My college journey started in the fall of 2022 at Alvernia University after graduating from Cherry Hill East in Cherry Hill, NJ. Many ask what led me to find my way to Reading, PA to attend a small school like Alvernia and that was mainly for two reasons. After being recruited to play Men’s Lacrosse at Alvernia, I fell in love with both the campus and the business school! Making a decision at 17 years old that could affect the rest of your life is something that is incredibly challenging, but nonetheless, I believe that choosing Alvernia was the best decision for me as I am loving it here through my first two years. I am currently pursuing a dual major in both Marketing and Economics. Economics was a degree I added recently. I found out that Alvernia provides a very efficient route for dual majors, and I have always had an interest in Economics. Marketing was my first choice of degrees and the one I truly enjoy doing. I am super excited to begin the back half of my career at Alvernia University and am intrigued to see what the future holds!

Why did you want to pursue a degree in the marketing/communications field?

After bouncing between a few potential major interests in high school, I landed on Marketing during the time period of my Sophomore and Junior year while taking back-to-back Marketing and Advanced Marketing classes. What really intrigued me about Marketing was the ability to apply both creativity and analytical skills. Every single client you work with has different needs, wants, and problems to solve. Being able to analyze the market and then think outside the box to fulfil their needs is something I really enjoy doing.

Why did you want to intern at JPrutzman Enterprises?

I met Jes during a shadowing experience in the fall of 2023 through one of my classes. I had learned a lot from the shadowing experience, really loved everything her work was about, and the energy she brought to the table – not to mention her expertise in the Marketing world. We clicked well and roughly a year later we reconnected as she was looking for an intern and I was the first person she thought of and I absolutely jumped at the idea and got right to work!

What are your expectations of the internship?

The main thing I am hoping for is to broaden my portfolio. I am also hoping to acquire new skills while also strengthening the ones I already feel confident in. I am looking forward to gaining significantly more real-world experience in this field as it can be hard to gain that experience in college.

Fun fact about yourself…

Although I played lacrosse in college, the sport I’ve been involved with the longest is ball hockey. Many people are curious about it, and it’s quite simple. Ball hockey is essentially hockey played on foot, typically on a plastic dek surface similar to a roller rink. Instead of using a puck, we play with a plastic ball. Recently, I had the honor of playing internationally for Team USA in the Under 20 World Juniors!
