JPrutzman Enterprises’ Intern Sydney Moody

Tell us about your schooling.

I am currently a sophomore at Penn State Berks and am expected to graduate in 2024. My goal is to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus in Marketing/Management. So far, I am enjoying the classes I am taking and looking forward to being involved on campus.

Why did you want to pursue a degree in marketing/communications/public relations field?

Truthfully, I am not sure how I came to the decision to pursue a career in marketing. I have always enjoyed planning, organizing and being involved with social media. The older I get, the more I enjoy talking and working with people as well. My family and friends encouraged me to consider business and marketing as a career since it involved tasks that I already enjoyed. Once I did some research, I realized they were right and learned how broad the field was. There are endless opportunities!

Is this your first internship? If not, please tell us about other experiences.

Yes, this is my first internship. In high school I had the opportunity to work with Jes for the day when I was first exploring marketing. It was a one day “internship” through my high school and was a requirement for graduation. I had a blast getting to work with her and watch her coordinate with other businesses. I think it was the turning point when I realized this is the career I want to pursue.

Why did you want to intern at JPrutzman Enterprises?

My mom was the one who introduced me to Jes. I would get to see Jes occasionally when she came into my mom’s hair salon. I always remember Jes saying to let her know when I was ready to intern. I was always so eager, not only because it is the opportunity to be involved with marketing, but I would get to have an awesome boss. Jes is the best. She is so down to earth and funny but knows when it is time to focus and can be all business. Those are qualities that I aspire to have when I begin my career. I knew working at JPrutzman Enterprises with Jes would be a fantastic learning experience for me.

What are your expectations of the internship?

My expectations of this internship are high! I expect nothing but the best with Jes! I know she enjoys teaching others and helping others succeed so I know I am always in good hands. I also am confident in myself to complete my work by the due dates and am ready to see what it is like juggling various projects at once. I think working with numerous different companies will always keep me busy!

Fun fact about yourself…

I love to travel whenever I get the chance! Getting to explore different places around the world is such a unique experience. My favorite destination would have to be Turks and Caicos. The beaches were beautiful, and the scenery was amazing! I am always ready to pack my suitcase and travel somewhere new!
