Concluding Your Blog Post
When writing a blog, many authors find themselves spending more time on the introduction than on the conclusion. While the introduction is still a valuable section, the conclusion is often overlooked by the writer, despite how important it is. For a reader to make it to the conclusion of a blog, it means they were interested enough in the rest of the content to make it all the way to the end, and a poor conclusion could have them clicking off the site with no desire to keep exploring your page. There are several key components that should be included in the conclusion and incorporating these tips could draw your readers in for more.
First, add and prioritize a call to action. Once the reader is finished with your post, point them in the direction of somewhere they could go next. Whether this be a link to your other blogs, a product or service offer, or an incentive to share your post, make sure it is clear that the reader should explore it. If you add too many calls to action, the reader could get overwhelmed and confused and not know where to click.
When you gain more traffic on your blog, you want to show those readers what kind of community you have on your site. As I said, for a person to make it to the conclusion, they clearly have at least a little interest in the content being published, so they may be interested in joining said community. Include links to your other socials and try to showcase posts that highlight what you or your company are all about. Maybe include a Tweet that discusses some of your brand’s morals or an Instagram post that highlights your previous awards.
Ask questions! If you have comments enabled on your blog, ask the readers some FAQs that will encourage them to engage with the post. The blog should be informative but also conversational, and the reader wants to know there’s a person behind the screen rather than a computer. The question could also highlight some key words that are relevant to your brand to increase the traffic on your site.
Lastly, sum it all up! Cover the main points and arguments that the reader may have forgotten from throughout the blog. Again, include those keywords you want to stick with the reader and keep it concise. The conclusion of a blog should briefly reiterate the points that were made throughout the post and inspire the reader to remember your name.
Now that you have made it to the end, let’s reiterate some of the must-haves to add to the end of your blog post. To keep readers on your site, offer them a call to action that will catch their eye. In addition to this, highlight products or services that your brand has to offer, such as deals or promotions. Don’t be afraid to show off a bit as well. Showcase your other social media pages and attach links that will easily lead the reader to your profile. You want readers to care about you and your site, so keep it conversational and interactive. A reader who supports your principles and enjoys your personality will also support your brand!
